ARIEL

THE MISSION

ARIEL - Atmospheric Remote-sensing Infrared Exoplanet Large-survey, this mission will study how planets and planetary systems form and evolve by surveying a large, diverse sample of approximately 1000 extrasolar planets, simultaneously in visible and infrared wavelengths. It is the first mission dedicated to measuring the chemical composition and thermal structures of hundreds of transiting exoplanets, enabling planetary science far beyond the boundaries of the Solar System.

OHB SWEDEN CONTRIBUTION

OHB Sweden has started the work to design, manufacture, integrate, test and deliver a monopropellant sub-system to the ESA Cosmic Vision Plan 4th medium-sized (M4) mission Ariel.

CUSTOMER/USER

The Prime Contractor for ARIEL is Airbus Defence and Space SAS. The contract is carried out under a program of and funded by the European Space Agency.

LAUNCH DATE

ARIEL is planned to be launched in 2029 together with the COMET-I satellite.
