Sweden, February 2025:
We are excited to announce that OHB Sweden has signed a Long Lead Item (LLI) contract with EUMETSAT for the EPS-Sterna program!
Following the successful launch of the AWS prototype satellite (European Space Agency - ESA) last year August, which serves as a pathfinder for the planned future EPS-Sterna constellation, EUMETSAT has initiated the procurement of the long lead items as part of a risk mitigation action undertaken to ensure that the instruments and platforms are delivered on time for the deployment of the initial constellation in 2029.
If approved by all EUMETSAT Member States, EPS-Sterna will play a vital role in advancing Europe’s weather and climate monitoring capabilities from space.
